Today Rotary Disctrict Governor Rtn. Gaurish Dhond paid a visit to Kolhapur Cancer Centre. He praised the charity work done by Kolhapur Cancer Centre where he mentioned that 85% patients visiting Kolhapur Cancer Centre are treated “FREE” under different government schemes.
D.G. Rtn. Gaurish Dhond then signed an MoU with Kolhapur Cancer Centre wherein Rotary District 3170 will assist in arranging cencre detection and cancer awareness camps in W. Maharashtra, N. Karnataka & Goa under the “HOPE VAN PROJECT”. The “Hope Van” has been donated by Indian Cancer Society to Kolhapur Cancer Centre for the purpose of spreading awareness as well as early detection of cancer in those remote areas from where general population is underprivileged and does not have access to decent hospital facilities. The “Hope Van” is fitted with a mammography machine, an x-ray unit. The said camps will be organised for the early detection of oral cancer, breast cancer & cervical cancer which are the most common cancers found in the underprivileged population. If any such cases are detected in the camps, they will be directed for further diagnosis & management of treatment to Kolhapur Cancer Centre free of cost under different government schemes.
